1869: After completing his education at the age of 21 he started teaching at the Melbury school.
1870: He joined Brookfield school as a teacher.
1896: He married Katherine Bridges in London at the age of 48 years.
1898: Katherine Bridges died just after two years of her marriage.
1900: Chips became senior teacher and Ralston, a young man was appointed as headmaster.
1911: Chatteris became the new headmaster of Brookfield school.
1913: Chips fell seriously ill and resigned from service at the age of sixty five.
1914: The first world war started.
1916: Chips rejoined the school on the request of Chatteris.
1917: Chatteris, the headmaster fell ill and died. Mr. Chips became the headmaster of Brookfield school.
1918: Chips again fell seriously ill after the end of the first world war and resigned from service.
