Question no 1:

Population:

Population is the aggregation of study elements.
In this scenario 500 cancer patients from the 7 hospitals are being studied. So, we can say, Population in the given scenario is 500 cancer patients from the 7 hospitals.

Question no 2:

Sampling Frame:

Sampling frame is list from which the sample will be drawn.
Here in this situation sample frame will be ‘500 cancer patients from the 7 hospitals’.

Question no 3:

Sampling unit:

A sampling unit is that element or set of elements considered for selection in some stage of sampling. It can be done in single or multiple stages. In single stage sample, sampling units are same as elements.
As in the given scenario, sample is single stage sample. So, as researcher has taken 150 patients as sample. So, these 150 patients will also be our sampling unit.

Observation unit:

Observation unit is an element or combining the elements from which information is collected.
In this scenario observation unit will be same as sampling unit i.e. ‘150 patients’.

Question no 4:

Research (Descriptive, exploratory or explanatory):

It will be ‘exploratory research’.
When the researcher is searching the topic that is new or researcher has little written material about it. As, in this situation, we are exploring a new issue i.e. to measure cancer patients’ attitude toward the doctor’s personality, behavior, competence, and prescribed treatment, in the public hospitals of Lahore. So, it will be explanatory research.

Sampling frame: This is the actual list of sampling units from which the sample, or some stage of the sample, is selected. It is simply a list of the study population.

Sampling unit: This is that element or set of elements considered for selection in some stage of sampling (same as the elements, in a simple single-stage sample). In a multi-stage sample, the sampling unit could be blocks, households, and individuals within the households.
