The Conceptual Note:
Any entrepreneurial venture which gets a positive response from the market and has potential for growth generally chooses between “organic growth” and “external growth” as a strategy to grow. Both organic and external growth strategies have their merits and demerits and most of the organizations choose the one according to their goals and suitability. “Organic growth” is a strategy in which ventures expand internally by opening own branches and setting up own production facilities in those markets where they do find potential whereas in “external growth strategy” entrepreneurs grant the rights of their business to external partners in the shape of “franchising” or “licensing”. Taking over some established brands and businesses is also called external growth strategy. It has also been observed that different businesses use a blend of organic and external growth strategies for growing in different markets.
The Case:
You started a pizza shop with the name of “Pizza Pakistan” in Peshawar in 2009 which was liked by the people and now sells like hot cakes. Your pizza shop is not only well known in Peshawar but also a large number of people living in most of the major cities of Pakistan are aware of it. You have conducted a survey in all major cities of Pakistan and found that people living there know your product and willing to have it. You have also been contacted by some sound parties from Faisalabad, Quetta and Hyderabad to become your franchisee.
The Requirement:
Keeping in view the above case and the note, you are required to make a decision that which growth strategy you will use to expand your business in new markets. Also justify your choice by giving solid arguments in favor of the strategy you will choose and against the strategy which you will not consider.

A business grow organically means that the company is using internal funds to expand the business, rather than purchasing another business or thru other partner-sharing business. An example of organic growth will be increasing capital using own money.
Below are some advantages of organic growth:
1. Organization strategic goals can be achieved
Thru organic growth, the management team are able to guide and lead the business according and in-line with the strategic goals of the company.
2. No crashes in culture
There will be no culture clashings as the company employees are all either hired from the start of the business or being transfered to the newly setup business. the culture and norms of the business will be maintained.
3. Cheaper compared to acquisitions
very often when a company buys another business. they'll need to pay a premium, and that premium itself can sometimes wipe out the whole value of the acquisitions rather than increasing shareholder's value.
Disadvantages of organic growth are like:
1. Longer time
organic growth business needs longer time to grow as they need to start from scratch including setting up the whole business, hiring and recruiting human capital, investing in machineries, and etc.
2. Riskier
The business will be bearing the whole risk by themselves.

Background:
Business plan is an important document that describes the nature and direction of business in future in accordance with its goals. One of the major parts of the business plan is the marketing plan where all the relevant details regarding marketing tools and strategy are designed for future actions. The idea behind putting marketing tools and strategy in business plan is to facilitate entrepreneurs to have a more distinct approach towards business and customers.
Scenario:
In Pakistan, the textile and clothing industry plays an imperative role in fostering the pace of economic development. As per Economic Survey of Pakistan 2009-10, the textile sector has marked immense growth especially in ready-to-wear garment industry. One can observe the emergence of successful local brands that have smashed not only the local market but have also gagged immense popularity and acceptance in international markets. Billboards and increasing outlets depict the mushroom growth of ready-to-wear garment range in Lahore and one of the examples in this scenario is HSY designer range by Hassan Sheheryar Yasin that has successfully captured the local and international market in the said industry.
Task
You are recommended to select any local ready-to-wear garment brand (boutique or any designer range) and closely observe their following marketing practices:
1. Segmentation and target market
2. Pricing strategies
3. Branding strategies
4. The implication of marketing mix
5. Selection of USP (unique selling point) and
