Fatima Jinnah Medical College was established in 1946 as Balak Ram medical College. It was founded by the family of Sir Ganga Ran, named after a son of Sir Ganga Ram. After the emergence of Pakistan, Prof. Shujaat Ali obtain the approval of Quaid-e-Azam for giving the name of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah and Quaid-e-Azam approved this name and then the college was renamed as Fatima Jinnah Medical College.
