In your organization, assume that customer names and addresses are maintained in three customer files supporting three different source operational systems. Describe the possible entity identification problem you are likely to face when you consolidate the customer records from the three files. Write a procedure outlining how you propose to resolve the problem.


ANSWER

. When we will perform any sort of operations on these types of files may be duplication or replication of data occurs. The extent of quality may be more good in that file in which we are working and may be as as much in which duplication of data occurs. When we extract these types of files from the systems it shows us that one entry contain many fields and share many data from other files.

SOLUTION

Solution for overcome problem is that:

(1) We need to rank source systems on a per data element basis.
(2) Take data element from source systems from highest rank basis where basically and truly the element exists.
(3) To maintain data integrity we need to follow data ranking rules too.


FOR THIS TWO APPROACHES CAN BE FOLLOWED

(1) ETL
Extract, Transform, Load in which data transformation takes place on a separate
Transform server.

(2) ELT
Extract, Load, Transform in which data transformation takes place in the data ware
House server.
Combination of both that is ETL and ELT is also possible
