• There are 5 questions in the assignment but only one question will be graded. However we are not mentioning that which question will be graded so you have to provide the solution of all 5 questions.
• Solve the assignment on MS word document and upload your word (.doc) files only. Do not solve the assignment on MS excel. If we get any assignment on MS excel or any format other than word file then it will not be graded.

Question 1:

If you want to get a loan with interest rate 7% per annum compounded monthly for a period of 17 years and pay Rs. 8,450 at the end of per month for this loan, then how much will you borrow?

Question 2:

If the basic salary of an employee is Rs. 30000 and allowances are Rs. 18,000.
What is the taxable income of the employee?

Question 3:

(a) If 3 students are absent out of a class of 24, what percent of the students are absent?
(b) If 12.5% of the students are absent in a class of 24, how many students are absent?
(c) If 3 students are absent and these comprise 12.5% of the class, how many students are enrolled in the class?

Question 4:

What principal does Ali need to invest at 25% p.a.(per annum) compounding monthly so that he ends up with Rs. 100,000 at the end of five years? Also find compound interest.

Question 5:

A retired person wants to deposit his G.P. fund savings of Rs. 1,50,000 in a bank. The bank offers 12% interest compounded quarterly, so as to withdraw Rs. 6000 after each three months. Find the number of withdraws.

5. If I understand correctly you will have paid monthly payments that totalled 8,450 for 17 years. Monthly payment = 8,450 / (12 x 17) = 41.42 per month.

The net present value (the amount borrowed) = 41.42 / (.07/12) * (1 - (1 + (.07/12))^(-12*17) = 4,933.13

N = 17 x 12, or 204
Interest = 7% / 12, or .5833%
PMT = 8,450
PV = 1,006,359

You can borrow the PV, 1,006,359

Periods (n) = 17*12= 204

PMT= 8450

PV = ?

= PMT * [((1 + r)^n – 1) / (r * (1 + r)^n]

=8450*(((1+0.0058)^204-1)/(0.0058*(1+0.0058)^204)) =1009126

If 3 students are absent out of a class of 24, what percent of the students are absent?
Total = 24

Absent = 3

Percent absent = (3/27)*100 = 11.11%

(b) If 12.5% of the students are absent in a class of 24, how many students are absent?

12.5% means out of 100 12.5 students are absent

= (12.5/100)*24 = 3 students are absent

(c) If 3 students are absent and these comprise 12.5% of the class, how many students are enrolled in the class?

If 12.5 students are absent then total students = 100

If 1 student is absent then total students = 100/12.5

If 3 students are absent total students = (100/12.5)*3 = 24

Question 4:

What principal does Ali need to invest at 25% p.a.(per annum) compounding monthly so that he ends up with Rs. 100,000 at the end of five years? Also find compound interest.

Interest rate is 25% per annum, and compounded monthly, then the value of 'i' to use in the formula is 25%/12 = 2.08% = .0208
i = .0208
A = 100,000

n = 5 years = 5*12 = 60 months

( As interest is compounded after every month ,we need to get all periods by multiplying years * months )
P = ?
P= A/(1+i)^n

P= 100,000/((1+.0208)^60) = 29077.71

Question 4:
